Rodadero

Rodadero

Rodadero beach is located 15 minutes from the hostel and is a hot-spot for people watching, beaching lounging, and souvenir shopping.  A popular Colombian holiday destination, Rodadero caters to a variety of tourist needs and boasts amazing sunsets.  Kayaking, jetskiing, and banana boating are just a few of the water activities available here. We recommend posting up under a rented tent (‘carpa’) and taking in all the Caribbean has to offer.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is one of the more quiet beaches in Santa Marta, only accessible a by short boat ride.  The jewel toned water and the panoramic view of Rodadero and the island off it’s shore are well worth the short journey.  Here you can snorkel and enjoy a typical fresh fish lunch while basking in the tranquility that Playa Blanca offers.

Bahia Concha

Bahia Concha

Bahia Concha is a gorgeous bay surrounded by mountains where you can lounge by the water and order a typical fresh fish meal.  It is the closest Tayrona beach to Santa Marta, located about 35 minutes from the hostel.  On weekends, join the locals who opt for Bahia Concha over the more crowded Rodadero or Taganga beaches.  Although part of Tayrona, the entrance fee is only 5,000 pesos, making it an ideal day trip.*

*Camping is, also, available at the far end of the beach.

Taganga

Taganga

This sleepy fishing village has certainly awoken.  The landscape here is impressive and there are multiple lookouts along the way to snap a few photos.  The village is bursting with color: turquoise water, bright fruits, and handmade jewelry sold by traveling artisans.*  Meander through town and trek to Playa Grande, a short boat ride or hike away.  There you’ll be met by clear water, plenty of lounge chairs, and some of the best typical fish dishes available in Santa Marta.  Taganga is a 10 minute bus ride from the hostel, which makes it a perfect day trip.
